VHS

Full-size home video. The most common format from the '80s and '90s.

VHS-C

Compact VHS used in camcorders. About half the size of a full VHS tape.

Super VHS

Higher-resolution VHS. Same full size — look for "S-VHS" printed on the label.

Hi8

Sony 8mm camcorder tape. Wallet-sized cassette labeled "Hi8" or "Video8".

Digital8

Sony digital format, same cassette as Hi8. Look for "Digital8" on the label or your camcorder.

MiniDV

Tiny digital cassette from late-'90s and 2000s camcorders. Crisp quality, very small.

Questions families ask us.

What formats can you convert?

VHS, VHS-C, Super VHS, Hi8, Digital8, and MiniDV are all standard. Film reels, Betamax, slides, and audio cassettes are handled through a quick custom quote — just ask.

How long does it take?

Typically 3–5 days from pickup to delivery. Large collections may take a little longer — we'll give you a real timeline at pickup.

Do my tapes ever leave Pinellas County?

Never. Your tapes are picked up personally, digitized in our Seminole studio, and hand-returned to your door. Nothing is shipped, by us or by you.

What if a tape is damaged or moldy?

We inspect every tape before it goes anywhere near a deck. Broken shells and loose tape can often be repaired; mold requires special handling. If a tape is fragile, we contact you before attempting anything — nothing risky happens without your OK.

What if a tape turns out to be blank?

You only pay for tapes we actually digitize. If a tape turns out blank, we tell you — no charge for that tape.

What if footage can't be recovered?

Aging tape is fragile, and occasionally a recording is beyond saving. Any unrecoverable tape is refunded at 75% of its digitization cost — no questions asked.

Is there a length limit per tape?

Pricing assumes standard-length tapes (up to about 2 hours). Unusually long recordings — like 6-hour extended-play tapes — may need a small quote adjustment after inspection. We'll always ask before doing anything.

What exactly do I get back?

Everything: your original tapes, plus a USB drive with your digitized files. If you add RewindHD Cloud, your videos are also ready to stream and share the moment they're finished.

How long do you keep my files?

We keep your files for 30 days after delivery as a safety net, then securely delete them. Cloud subscribers' files stay safely stored for as long as they subscribe.

Can I watch these on my TV?

Yes. The USB drive plugs straight into most smart TVs, and RewindHD Cloud streams to any device with a screen — phone, tablet, or TV.
